K.C. NASH BIO

K.C. Nash is a freelance writer and marketing communications consultant. Over the past few years, her articles have appeared in local newspapers, regional lifestyle magazines, industry newsletters and national trade magazines, and she has conducted marketing campaigns for several organizations.

She has operated her own consultancy, Nash Communications, since 1999. Her professional activities during this time included:

From 1992 to 1994, K.C. was a weekly columnist and regular contributor of articles to the San Ramon Valley Times, one of the dailies of Contra Costa Newspapers, Inc., owned by Knight-Ridder. In 1995 she joined CCT full-time as Special Sections Editor, responsible for production of a multitude of special advertorial sections for all five daily papers. She not only wrote feature stories, but also developed story ideas, assigned stories and photography to freelancers, designed page layouts, and sent live pages directly to the printing presses. She resigned this position in November 1999 to work full-time as a freelancer.

In 1993, K.C. served as director for the Five For Life Campaign, which raised $120,000 over a six-month period for breast cancer research at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) Medical Center.

Just prior to her move to the West Coast in 1991, she had her own PR consulting business in Alexandria, Virginia. One major project was to create a corporate image and set up promotional programs for the start-up of a Caribbean airline.

From 1983 to 1990, K.C. was a partner and vice president of Grafik Communications, Ltd., a major marketing communications firm in the Washington, D.C. area. She was responsible for new business development, project coordination and editorial services, as well as coordinating the administrative and financial functions of the 20-person firm. The firm's major clients were high technology businesses, financial service firms and cultural and non-profit organizations.

Prior to that, she gained experience in a variety of sectors: in private industry, as Director of Public Relations and Customer Service for a large air charter company and senior account executive at a PR firm; in non¬profits, as Public Information Assistant for the American Film Institute; in trade associations, as Communications Assistant for the National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors; and in politics, as Press Aide on a congressional campaign in the 7th District of Virginia.

K.C. received her B.A. with High Distinction in Communications from the University of Virginia in 1975. She is also a 1995 graduate of the Leadership San Ramon Valley program. She now lives in Antigua, West Indies, with her husband Willie.
